If you’re a Trekkie, you’ll already know that the 8th of September is no ordinary day. For the uninitiated – it’s Star Trek Day! And this year, fans of this cult sci-fi franchise celebrated 58 incredible years of Borgs, Klingons, Ferengi, and the beloved Starfleet crew. Talk about a legacy!
Fans all over the globe were buzzing with excitement, and right here in Mitcham, the celebrations were nothing short of cosmic. Our Hog Roast Mitcham team was thrilled to join the fun and help Drew make this event a galactic sensation for Star Trek fans far and wide!
Drew went all out with a Star Trek Day bash that was truly stellar. A local hotel was transformed into a Starfleet haven, complete with a lookalike Starfleet Academy entrance that had guests feeling like they were stepping onto the USS Enterprise. Inside, it was a Star Trek lover’s dream come true: a Voyager Bridge stage, a photo booth for capturing those iconic moments, planets floating from the ceiling, and soft purple lighting that made the whole space feel out of this world.
And speaking of out of this world—the food! Hog Roast Mitcham’s BBQ spread was a major talking point of the event. With 400 hungry attendees, we pulled out all the stops. Our juicy, handmade burgers made from prime British beef were a massive hit, and our chef’s gourmet sausages were devoured faster than you can say “Engage!” The chicken kebabs were tender and succulent, while the sticky BBQ spareribs had everyone clamouring for more.
We also had some epic veggie burgers and grilled veggie skewers on hand to ensure our non-meat-eating guests could join the feast. And the sides? They were as vibrant as a supernova! Greek salad, coleslaw, and a mix of sweet potato and regular fries brought a rainbow of flavours to the table. It was the perfect fuel for an evening packed with intergalactic fun.
Besides food and decor, the party was packed with action, including re-enactments, costume competitions, and mocktails that made the event even more memorable. The atmosphere was electric, and fans of all ages were immersed in the fun.
In the end, it was an epic celebration that combined the magic of Star Trek with the deliciousness of Hog Roast Mitcham’s fare. Here’s to more out-of-this-world events and bold new adventures. Live long and feast well, everyone!
